Landscape plan
The landscape plan of the state capital of Mainz was introduced in October 2015 as a future-oriented planning instrument for the protection, maintenance and development of open spaces in the local areas as well as nature and landscape throughout the city.
It describes the condition and development of nature and the landscape, outlines the goals for future landscape development, and specifies the measures necessary to achieve these goals. These include, among other things, the protection of certain parts of nature and the landscape, the biotope network, the promotion and preservation of biodiversity, and the importance of open spaces in urban areas.
The landscape plan is the environmental administration's technical plan. It provides the current planning basis and the necessary nature conservation assessment material for the spatial planning of the city of Mainz.
The landscape plan was drawn up for a period of 10 to 15 years, but is to be adapted and updated as necessary in line with current developments.
