You must extend your residence permit in good time if you wish to continue your training in Germany. This applies to all foreign nationals from non-EU and non-EEA countries who are undergoing training in Germany.

With this permit, you may

• attend non-academic language courses (intensive German language courses),
• attend school in exceptional cases, or
• receive vocational training and further education if the Federal Employment Agency agrees.

The requirements for extending your residence permit are:

• You meet the passport and visa requirements.
  For the passport requirement, it is sufficient if you have a substitute identity document.
• Your livelihood is secure.
• There are no grounds for expulsion against you.
• Your stay does not jeopardize or impair the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany.
• You meet the admission requirements for the relevant training program.
• You do not unreasonably delay your training, and
• you do not exceed the average duration of the training program.

You must apply for the extension in writing to the relevant authority.

You will then either receive the desired extension or a notice of rejection. 

• Proof of compliance with passport and visa requirements
• Proof of sufficient funds to cover living expenses
• Proof that there are no grounds for expulsion against you
• Proof that you do not endanger or impair the interests of the Federal Republic of Germany
• Proof of fulfillment of the admission requirements for the training program (original)
• Proof that you
  • you are not unreasonably delaying your training and
  • do not exceed the average duration of the training program

• Extension for up to 3 months: 96 euros
• Extension for more than 3 months: €93
