As a German citizen, you are required to have an identity card from the age of 16 if you do not have a valid passport.
Any theft of your identity card must be reported to the citizens' office or the police. Failure to do so constitutes a violation of the law.
When reporting the theft to the citizens' office, you can apply for a new identity card at the same time.
Blocking the online ID function: If you report the theft to your local government office or the police, the online ID will be automatically blocked.
