The information in your passport must always be up to date. If there are any changes, you must apply for a new passport in the event of:
- a name change due to marriage or the establishment of a civil partnership
- A name change due to divorce or the dissolution of a civil partnership
- Changes to other information
Changes that can be made without issuing a new passport:
Change of address due to relocation
If the address of your main residence changes, we will enter the new place of residence in your passport. It is not necessary to reissue your passport. The change should be made at the same time as you register your place of residence.
You can authorize another person to have your passport changed.
Changing your name due to marriage
If your surname changes due to marriage, you must apply for a new passport with your new name. You can order the new passport with your future surname a maximum of 8 weeks before the marriage. You can then collect the finished passport after the marriage has taken place, upon presentation of the marriage certificate.
Changing your name due to divorce
If your family name changes due to divorce, you must apply for a new passport with the new name. It is not possible to change the name in your previous passport.
Changing other personal data
You must apply for a new passport with
your current details, as we cannot change the details. This includes, in particular: first name, surname, date of birth, and place of birth.
Entry of a doctoral title
If you have obtained a doctoral title, you can have it entered. To do so, you must apply for a new passport with your current details, as we cannot change the details.
The passport is available as an express passport and as a 48-page passport.
