If you wish to cease operating your business, you are required to deregister your business. 

The same applies if you relocate the headquarters of your business or a branch office or a dependent branch of your company to a new location and this results in a different municipality being responsible. First, deregister your business or shop at its previous location. Then re-register it at the new location.

If you change the legal form of your business, you must also deregister your business. First, you must deregister your business under its previous legal form. Then re-register your business under the new legal form.
If you relocate the headquarters of your business or a branch or dependent branch of your company to a new location without any change in jurisdiction within the municipality, a business re-registration is sufficient. The following persons or their authorized
representatives must deregister:

• in the case of sole proprietorships, by the business owner themselves,
• for corporations (e.g., LLC, AG), by the legal representatives. 

In the case of partnerships (e.g., OHG, KG, GbR/BGB-Gesellschaft, GmbH & Co. KG), all partners authorized to manage the business must deregister their businesses.
 

• Closure of business or
• relocation of your place of business or the headquarters of a branch office or dependent branch outside the previous municipality, or 
• Change in the legal form of your business
   

You are required to deregister your business at the time of closure or relocation to another municipality's jurisdiction, or when changing its legal form.

If you have filled out the form correctly and your documents are complete, the authorities will immediately confirm receipt of your deregistration when you visit in person. If you deregister in writing or electronically, you will receive confirmation of receipt of your business deregistration within 3 days.

Required documents:

• Printed and completed business registration form
• Copy of identity card or residence permit for non-EU citizens (front and back) or copy of passport together with current registration certificate (not older than 3 months)
  

For registered companies:

• Printed and completed business registration form
• Copy of the identity cards of the management

For dependent branches:

• Printed and completed business registration form
• Copy of the identity cards of the management

For representatives of traders or managing directors:

• Written power of attorney
• Original ID card of the person granting power of attorney
• Original ID of the person acting on behalf of the business owner
• One copy (front and back) of the identity card or residence permit for non-EU citizens
  

Note: Driver's licenses, health insurance cards, or similar documents are not sufficient and will not be accepted. You must present an identity card, residence permit, or passport in conjunction with a registration certificate!

The costs are based on the respective administrative fee regulations of the state or on the fee statutes of the authorities responsible under state law.
