The Social Services Office transfers €195 per year for school supplies to recipients of SGB XII benefits and recipients of benefits under the AsylbLG (Asylum Seekers Benefits Act) who have eligible children, without the need for an additional application: €130 of this is paid at the start of the school year in August and €65 in February.

The Mainz Job Center does the same for SGB II benefit recipients.

Recipients of housing allowance and child supplement must notify the Social Services Office that they wish to claim these benefits.
