Retail structure planning - analyses and concepts
The Office for Urban Research and Sustainable Urban Development prepares analyses and concepts for the structure, development and spatial management of the retail trade.
Retail plays a central role in the quality of life and economic strength of a city. It secures jobs, promotes the local economy, and ensures that residents have access to local amenities. At the same time, it shapes the cityscape, revitalizes the city center and district centers, and creates spaces for people to meet and interact. A diverse range of shopping options makes the city attractive—for residents as well as visitors and tourists.
The Office for Urban Research and Sustainable Urban Development analyzes the structure and development of the retail sector. It develops concepts such as the "Retail Center Concept" and supports both the administration, in particular the building authority, and external actors such as retail associations in implementing these concepts.
