The department combines traditional administrative and financial responsibilities—which provide a reliable foundation for internal processes—with the planning and execution of events. In particular, organizing and overseeing markets and folk festivals helps actively shape public life and keep the city vibrant. As the organizer of the Christmas Market, the Rheinfrühling Festival, and Johannisnacht (in collaboration with the City Administration Office), the Fairs and Markets Team organizes and oversees the city’s well-known festivals.
