The department maintains parks, green spaces, playgrounds and roadside greenery. It takes care of lawn mowing, hedge trimming, decorative flower beds, leaf removal and winter maintenance. It also ensures compliance with traffic safety obligations by pruning trees and shrubs along footpaths and cycle paths. A particular focus here is on the areas of the Mainz green belt with the large parks Volkspark, Stadtpark, Rosengarten and the extensive Römerwall.
