You can obtain a Mobiler-ICT card if you are scheduled to work as a manager, specialist, or trainee at a German branch of a foreign company.

The Federal Employment Agency must approve the employment. The Agency will review, in particular, your role as a manager, specialist, or trainee, as well as your salary and working conditions.

The residence permit is issued for the duration of the intra-company transfer, but for at least 90 days. However, the stay in Germany may not exceed three years for executives/specialists and one year for trainees. At the same time, the planned stay in Germany may not exceed the duration of your stay in the EU member state that issued you the residence permit for the purpose of the intra-company transfer.

• You have a recognized and valid passport or passport substitute.
• You hold a residence permit from another Member State that is valid for the duration of the application process for the purpose of an intra-company transfer. 
• You are to be employed in Germany as a manager, specialist, or trainee.
• The intra-company transfer in Germany is expected to last more than 90 days.
• You can provide an employment contract valid for the duration of the transfer and, if necessary, a letter of secondment.
• The Federal Employment Agency has approved your employment.
• There are no grounds for deportation against you.
• Your stay does not endanger or harm the interests of the Federal Republic of De utschland.
• You can cover your living expenses and health insurance coverage with your own funds without relying on public benefits.

The process is as follows:

• Depending on the immigration office and the nature of your request, it may be possible to submit your application online. Check to see if your immigration office offers online application.
• If you can only submit your application in person, schedule an appointment with the immigration office. During the appointment, your application will be accepted and your supporting documents will be reviewed (be sure to bring them with you to the appointment). Your fingerprints will be taken to produce the MobilerICT card.
• If you submit your application electronically, the Foreigners’ Registration Office will contact you after receiving your online application to schedule an appointment at the office, if necessary. During the appointment, your supporting documents will be reviewed (please bring them with you to the appointment) and your fingerprints will be taken to produce the MobilerICT card.
• If your application is approved, the Foreigners’ Registration Office will arrange for the MobilerICT card to be issued.
• After about six to eight weeks, you can pick up the Mobiler-ICT card at the Foreigners’ Registration Office.
• The Mobiler ICT card must generally be picked up in person.

Alternatively, you can also submit the application to the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees via the BSCW server (https://bscw.bund.de). The competent Foreigners’ Registration Office will then decide on the application.

An appeal against a decision by the immigration authorities may be lodged with the authority named in the decision within one month of notification of the decision. The appeal may be lodged in writing, in electronic form, or for recording.

If the Foreigners' Registration Office does not grant the appeal, legal action may be taken before the court specified in the appeal decision.

• If you are already in Germany as part of a short-term mobility program, you must submit your application at least 20 days before your short-term mobility stay expires.
• If you are still abroad, you must submit the application at least 20 days before entering Germany.
• If you submitted the application 20 days before your entry, you may already stay and work in Germany for up to 90 days within a 180-day period until the Foreigners’ Registration Office makes a decision.
• Appeal period: one month

• Proof of health insurance
• Current certificate of residence

In individual cases, the Foreigners’ Registration Office may require you to submit additional documents.
