In order to enforce or defend legal claims in connection with participation in road traffic, the registration authority may provide information about vehicle owners and the liability insurance of a vehicle. This is called "simple register information."

Applicants can be private individuals, lawyers, or public authorities. For data protection reasons, you must submit your application in writing, stating your reasons, or in person. The registration authority responsible for the license plate is generally responsible for providing the information. If you move and take your license plate with you, the registration authority at your new place of residence is responsible. In this case, we will forward the application accordingly.

You will receive information for the following purposes:

• to assert, secure, enforce, or satisfy claims in connection with road traffic
• to satisfy or defend legal claims in connection with road traffic
• to bring a private prosecution in connection with road traffic

You can submit the application in person or have someone else (e.g., a lawyer) represent you.

Please submit the application in writing by mail or fax. You cannot submit the application by email, as a signature is required.

We require the following documents and information from you:

• Identity card or passport
• Vehicle data or
• Personal details of the vehicle owner
• Explanation/reason why you need the information
• In the case of representation (e.g., by a lawyer), presentation of a power of attorney

Per owner inquiry and license plate: 5.10 euros

• Fee notice as part of the provision of information
