Complaints office for Finther aircraft noise

The Mainz city administration repeatedly receives complaints about aircraft noise and inquiries about flight operations at the Finthen airfield. In order to streamline the process, Wolfgang Reichel, head of the environmental department, asks that complaints be directed to the responsible supervisory authority.
The aviation authority for the Finthen airfield is the State Office for Mobility – Aviation Department, 55483 Hahn Airport (switchboard: 06543/50 88 01).

The following information is helpful in identifying the aircraft owner and checking whether there has been a violation of aviation law:

  • The reason for the complaint
  • Date and time of the incident
  • The aircraft identification; if this information is not available, a description of the aircraft and the flight route (e.g., color, 1 or 2 engines, how it flew) can help to identify the pilot

Wolfgang Reichel, head of the environmental department, whose department is also responsible for aircraft noise complaints: "We naturally help every citizen as best we can and forward complaints we receive to the relevant aviation authority. However, it is more effective if those affected report the incident themselves."
