The department is responsible for planning and implementing urban open spaces and green areas. It develops strategies for the development of urban open spaces and local recreational facilities. It plans and builds the diverse types of urban green spaces. These include, for example, parks, green squares, the banks of the Rhine, district and outdoor sports facilities, outdoor facilities of municipal institutions such as schools and daycare centers, playgrounds, and roadside greenery.
