The department processes benefits in accordance with the Maintenance Advance Act (Unterhaltsvorschussgesetz) and maintenance claims in accordance with Section 94 SGB XII and checks invoices for health assistance in accordance with Section 264 SGB V. It examines applications from single parents, determines the ability to pay of the person liable to pay maintenance and claims repayments.
