City model: Areas for residential construction
In the lobby of Stadthaus, there is a model depicting areas designated for residential construction in the state capital of Mainz.
Based on a needs analysis, the administration identified and evaluated suitable residential development sites within the city limits. The map below shows 24 sites that are available for residential development in the short and medium term. These are a selection of larger potential residential development sites with a capacity of approximately 50 housing units or more.
On the one hand, the map shows areas where development has already begun but where additional vacant land is still available. On the other hand, it includes areas designated for future residential development. In addition, there are smaller plots included in existing zoning plans, as well as a variety of small-scale and individual projects, such as filling in vacant lots, attic conversions, or infill development.
The model is on display in the foyer of the Stadthaus at Große Bleiche 46.
