Between Große Langgasse, Schillerstraße, and Ludwigsstraße, as well as in their side streets, you will find a good selection of Mainz specialty shops offering high-quality goods. The refined atmosphere between the Fastnachtsbrunnen fountain and the chic, renovated Proviantamt-Magazin with its garden café and hospitable restaurant vaults underscores the select quality offerings of these clothing, jewelry, and photography shops.

You will find more specialty shops on Gaustraße, which leads up to St. Stephen's Church. Gaustraße has small gift shops that are fun to browse, cozy cafés, a bookstore, various restaurants, galleries, and much more to offer. The walk uphill is well worth it!

The cozy, winding old town is also known as the "living room of Mainz." It's a place where you can feel at home and enjoy a slice of Mainz life as you stroll around. The many original shops, service providers, pubs, and wine bars offer a wide variety of choices. Between Schöfferstraße, Leichhof, and the Roman Theater train station, you will find over 100 shops selling antiques, art, design items, gifts, delicacies, and fashion and lifestyle products. In between, many wine bars and bistros serving international cuisine invite you to take a break.

The cathedral and market square mark the center of the city center. On Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the weekly market with its fresh products and lively atmosphere is one of the most beautiful in the region. The "Am Brand" shopping center, located between the market, town hall, and Rheingoldhalle, is a true shopping paradise for modern people. Everything here is a little bigger: clothing stores, electronics stores, shoe stores, bookstores, and phone shops. The various young fashion boutiques attract young people in particular. And the gummy bear shop is not only popular with children. At the Tourist Service Center in the Brückenturm, you can obtain information about the state capital of Mainz, and you may also find a gift or two in the souvenir shop's extensive range.

The City-Meile pedestrian zone and the main train station are connected by the Bleichenviertel district – three streets and many connecting roads full of specialty shops and a wide range of services. The center of this
district is Neubrunnenplatz with its inviting restaurants and cafés. The Wirth children's store and the Gutenberg bookstore are well-known highlights of this shopping district; the main post office and the newly renovated main train station with numerous stores that are also open on Sundays are important service centers.

Between Frauenlobplatz and Boppstraße is Mainz Neustadt's "shopping district" with many small shops. Whether you're looking for groceries, drugstore items, baked goods, gifts, or electrical appliances, you'll find what you're looking for on Boppstraße.  Take Frauenlobstraße or Kurfürstenstraße towards the Rhine to reach Gartenfeldplatz. At Frauenlobplatz—where a small weekly market takes place on Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.—there are also numerous restaurants, a flower shop, and a post office.
