The Technology Department ensures the operational readiness and safety of vehicles, equipment, and personal protective equipment for fire and disaster control in the state capital of Mainz. It plans, procures, and maintains the equipment used by the professional fire department, volunteer fire department, and disaster control services. Technically trained employees carry out maintenance and safety checks in the department's own workshops. This covers vehicles, respiratory protection, diving equipment, radio and measurement technology, firefighting and rescue equipment, and personal protective clothing, among other things.
