When Christoph Lösch hosts the popular "Munkel Wine Tasting," it's not about spreading rumors—that's the actual meaning of the word "munkeln." Instead, it's about enjoying delicious Rheinhessen tapas with eight different wines. "Munkel" is a Rheinhessen word meaning a small snack. When it comes to wine events, the master winemaker from Worms is very creative: Tischlein-Deck-Dich im Wingert (The Wishing Table in the Vineyard), a journey through 2000 years of wine history in historic Worms, a "walking wine tasting" along the vines in the vineyard, or a herb walk through the vineyards... Christoph Lösch never runs out of ideas. "People should smell, see, and taste the landscape and the wine!" is his message.

A new concept was needed to market the wines from 17.5 hectares of vineyards – and the master winemaker found it in his varied, innovative wine events. "I love diversity – every wine is close to my heart!" is his credo. Half white and half red wine varieties: on different soils around Worms, the master winemaker cultivates classic Rheinhessen white wine grape varieties such as Riesling, Silvaner, Burgundy, Gewürztraminer, and Huxelrebe. The reds include Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, but also Frühburgunder and St. Laurent. In order to bring this extensive range to the attention of different customers, different approaches are needed – for Christoph, personal commitment to customer-oriented wine events is the optimal strategy.

In winter, the Rheinhessen winemaker presents his wines at wine fairs, and in the warmer months, he is active in countless customer events. He can also be found regularly at the winemaker's stand at the Worms weekly market at the market winemakers' stand. Out of loyalty to his homeland, he has also revived a classic: he offers the famous "Liebfraumilch" as a traditionally aromatic cuvée. He won a design award in 2017 for the label design featuring the sculpture of the Wonnefrau in his vineyards.

He cultivates historic grape varieties such as White Traminer, Green Franconian, Franconian Burgundy, and Blue Muscat on a total of one hectare. He cultivates the historic grape varieties in a show vineyard on the old city wall, the oldest in Europe. He wants to preserve the genetic potential for posterity. Does the busy winemaker ever get a chance to relax? "At the 'Wine and Sweet Delicacies' event in our wine cellar, for example, with candied ginger covered in dark chocolate, accompanied by a Pinot Gris – that's when I can relax and enjoy myself!"

The Klosterhof Winery has won the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Award 2024 in the "Wine Tourism - Service" category. The jury was impressed by the comprehensive service offered to visitors interested in wine.
